A bench is must trend piece of furniture to have these days. The shape style and material are endless. I think to choose one that is right for you is a fun process of decorating the room and a long with the decorating the artworks.
This bench is belongs to my husband and it has been his since even before we met. So it always been in the house for a long time.
And a bench is that one item is easy to decorate with art. If you an art lover, a bench is a perfect item to display your art either on top or on it against the wall.
I love home decor. As an artist and a painter it only natural to me to always think how to decorate my leaf art that tent to have neutral colors in them. One day while browsing in Pinterest I stumbled upon the neutral style home decoration boards and absolutely love them. Immediately thought that my leaf art will go nicely in them. And that is the inspiration behind this bench styling project.
So here are 8 ways how to decorate a bench neutral style.
Decorate with art.
Place artworks on top the bench against the wall. Place them in front of one and another is a spontaneous way to dress up a bench. And it instantly looking artsy and beautiful.
2. Layering art
If you prefer a neutral color interior, my best guess is to put a neutral color art. If you prefer more colors pick art with only one tone primary colors in it. But brownish, greenish colors art is works best.
Here I decorated the bench with my leaf art (here).
3. Adding flowers and plants.
Does not matter how many artworks you placed on the bench adding a vase of flowers or plants are the easiest to create an instant prettiness to the bench. Try to look for a neutral color vase.
4. Decorating with white ceramics
When decorating with neutral colors, you can’t go wrong with a group of white ceramic bowls or vases. The surface of rough brown wood and the surface of shiny smooth ceramics is complimented each other. Imagine a white sofa with a rustic coffee table in the center decorated with a group of white ceramics bowls vases and or sculpture sits on top the table. They just go together.
5. Decorating with baskets
To further details the look you can put several baskets under the bench. Decorating with baskets can enhance the farm look in the room. If this is the style you are going for, then adding baskets is a good choice.
6. Stacking books.
Another simple and fun way to dress up a bench is by placing a stack up books. Try to go for thick hard cover books with bright colors jackets. There is no rule on how many books you can stack up. You can put as many groups of book piles. Here I have only one. If you choose several piles try to consider and create a variety of heights to them. Last, adding an object sits on top of pile books is even looks prettier.
7. Adding a sculpture.
The sculpture is the prettiest way to decorate the bench. If you prefer with one a good size of sculpture, it’s probably enough, and you don’t need other elements on the bench. Having a flat surface item to put the sculpture on the top is a good way to add volume to the whole decoration. Here I put the sculpture on top of stacking books.
8. The golden ensemble.
For a modern luxury feel, placing gold elements will create an instant richness to the simple brown rustic bench. You can go with only gold picture frames if all is too much. Either way, adding gold elements on the bench will instantly change the feel in a different luxurious way.
The goal here is to put artwork and building up around the art to create an interesting look around the bench. Whether the art is sitting on the top of the bench or hanging on the wall above the bench, the above 8 ideas always work. But what most important is start with a focal point first, the artwork itself.
